George Sotter (1879-1953), an artist strongly identified with Bucks County, Pennsylvania, is best known for his magical winter nocturnes, scenes made Show More...even more enchanting by the blanket of snow that is a recurring motif in his work. Equally evocative, however, are his tranquil marines and sunlit landscapes. Sotter was a master at rendering sweeping panoramic vistas of Bucks County's hills, gently rolling under cumulous cloud-filled skies that create dramatic patterns of light and shadow. He was also well known for his work in stained glass. In addition to a significant investigation of Sotter's nocturnal landscapes, Light and Shadow will present the various other types of landscape he produced throughout his career, and will introduce his work as a stained-glass artist, and examine the artistic exchange between the media in which he worked. Chronological and geographic in scope, the exhibition will also provide a regional context for the nocturne theme-the subject with which Sotter is most often recognized-and will include nocturne subjects by many of his Bucks County artistic contemporaries as well as some from further afield.. ...Show Less

First-time homebuyers Tina and Bill, along with their five children (one of whom is in a wheelchair), and one grandchild are scheduled to move from a Show More...cramped Tullytown apartment to a new Habitat for Humanity home in Morrisville, after spending 300 hours of sweat equity building the house.
Life challenges in the past, including job loss and medical issues, had prevented Tina and Bill from owning their own home until now. Through the Habitat Bucks homeownership program, their newly constructed four-bedroom, two-bathroom Cape Cod home will provide much-needed accessibility for their son in a wheelchair, as well as room for the three generations of family that live together.
Habitat Bucks demolished the original structure at 428 Woodland Avenue because it was severely damaged by burst pipes. The new home was designed and constructed to be accessible to persons with disabilities, with a first floor bedroom that has an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant bathroom, and an exterior ramp at the rear of the home.
Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County will hold a dedication ceremony at the house at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 428 Woodland Avenue, Morrisville, PA. The community is invited to meet Tina and Bill and join local dignitaries for this special occasion. Local residents, civic groups and businesses interested in supporting Habitat's mission to partner with low-income families to build safe, stable, and affordable housing in Bucks County are welcome to attend the dedication event.
"The Borough of Morrisville has been extremely easy to work with on our 106th Habitat home, and it joins two other houses we built in Morrisville last year," says Florence Kawoczka, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County. "We are extremely grateful for the support of our wonderful sponsors, including Parx Casino, Penn Community Bank and Wells Fargo."
"We are glad to be able to unite with Habitat Bucks to support positive growth and make an impact in Bucks County," says Ron Davis, Director of Diversity and Community Development, Parx Casino. "It's an honor to join Habitat's mission to help individuals, families and communities grow, prosper and build a better future."
"Penn Community Bank has a long tradition of supporting Habitat's mission to create affordable housing throughout Bucks County," says Todd Hurley, Chief Relationship Officer for Penn Community Bank. "The relationship we have with Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County is special; in addition to providing financial support, many of our employees, including myself and other members of our executive team, frequently participate in Habitat's building projects. It's gratifying to be part of a company whose people take this kind of pride in supporting the communities where they live and work. Penn Community Bank is thrilled to bring that passion to Habitat's new project in Morrisville."
Sponsors of the project include Wells Fargo, Penn Community Bank, Parx Casino, Toll Brothers and William Penn Bank..

George Sotter (1879-1953), an artist strongly identified with Bucks County, Pennsylvania, is best known for his magical winter nocturnes, scenes made Show More...even more enchanting by the blanket of snow that is a recurring motif in his work.

"UNITED UKRAINE - UNITED WITH US"
A Resplendent Outdoor Summer Concert
Marking Ukraine's Independence, the Unity of her People, Their Struggle for Freedom & Dignity & Ukraine's Entry into the Family of Advanced Democratic Nations!
The artists (dance troupes, musicians, singers and ensembles that have performed in previous years) have created a dynamic and integrated collaborative program. The artistic unity underscores the theme: "United Ukraine; United with Us".
Recent events in Ukraine, the Euromaidan Protest and Revolution of Dignity as well as the twilight struggle against unlawful Russian aggression, have forged a unified Ukrainian national identity, both in Ukraine and in the Diaspora. America's support of Ukraine's commitment to a self-determined democratic future - to life, liberty, freedom and justice - has created permanent bonds of friendship between the two nations. This year's festival honors these special relationships and developments.
